Apple products are made to fail
Apple products are well made, well designed products that cost two arms and a leg. They are made to NEED upgrading after a year or so and since you can't upgrade them, you need to buy the next model.
This goes for iPods, iMacs, iBooks etc Constantly being upgraded so that you waste your money. Hell even the iPhone made your last $200-$500 iPod purchase redundant. Selling the old one is also hard because they are all white and become grubby from use.
Apple has you by the balls cool kids.
